Narrative Exploration: Diving Deeper into Your Stories

What you’ll need
An adventurer’s spirit, your trusty journal or a piece of paper, a pen, and perhaps a cosy nook to get lost in your introspection.

Instructions:

1. Setting Sail
Close your eyes and take a deep, centering breath.

Imagine yourself aboard a ship, the “S.S. Self-Discovery”, ready to navigate the vast ocean of your narratives.

2. Mapping Your Stories
In your journal, note down 3-5 of your most potent stories or beliefs that you’ve uncovered so far.

These could be the positive stories acting as guiding stars or the challenging stories that are more like the stormy clouds on your voyage.

3. Diving Below the Surface
For each story:

– Consider how it’s been steering your ship – is it a tailwind pushing you forward or a tempest drawing you off course?
– Reflect on its origins.
Did it come from distant shores (external influences) or was it charted in the depths of your own mind?
– How does this tale fare with other sailors, the other people in your life?
Does it bolster their voyage or lead them into treacherous waters?

4. New Navigational Tools
Revisit past learnings and invite aboard different perspectives (maybe they’re pirates or mermaids!).

How do they see your story?

Does it inspire a new course or a renewed appreciation for the current one?

5. Charting a New Course
Perhaps there are new tales to tell or old ones to be rewritten.

With a refreshed perspective, sketch out these revised stories, ensuring they’re aligned with your desired destination.
