Welcome back to the final part of ROOTing into Your Wisdom.
How are you feeling? So first of all, we RECOGNISED your truth. We recognised your inner power. Then we looked at getting you to OWN your own unique blend of magic, including your quirks and how you show up. We then got you to OCCUPY your space to unapologetically, and to own your true essence.
You have your beautiful acronym now really anchoring and ROOTing you into your truth. So next, it’s about being TRUE to You.
So how can you take this Essence that you’ve uncovered, that you’ve anchored in, that you’ve sunk deeply into your being, and how can you make that part of your lived experience?
Yes, it’s lovely to gentle and create collages and create your essence board and have your essence word. But I don’t want it to be just another exercise, that once you’ve done it, it gets pushed to one side and nothing happens with it. How can you make this your lived experience?
Now, one of the ways I would recommend is to check in regularly with yourself. One of my favourite exercises is, I call it the SHEro Wheel. It’s a life coaching tool, and I’ll put a link to this again below so you can have a look at what I’m talking about. It’s a wheel that you split into eight sections, and I recommend splitting it into eight sections of your life that are important to you. This could be family, how you contribute to society, it could be your health and wellbeing, it could be friendships, it could be values that are important to you, It’s whatever is currently important to you in your life. And you score each section out of 10; zero being not happening at all. 10 being I am living this to the full.
Take each of those areas and ask yourself, out of 10, how much is that area of my life in alignment with my true essence?
How much is my essence showing up there?
So it might be within your family, how much do you allow your true assets to be expressed? And it might be just a little bit, just starting to, which is fine. It’s almost like the lower the number, the more progress you can make, but I think when we do things visually there’s no hiding. We can often say to our self, oh yeah, I need to express this more. I need to be more this with my family / at work / in my community, or I want to feel more connected. I want to contribute more. I know I need to look after my health better, whatever it may be… but when it’s there in front of you with the, with the chart saying; that bit of my life is really good, but that bit needs some attention. There’s no hiding from it. It’s that staring us in the face and we have to go, Oh yes, that part needs attention.
Then what you might want to do is just pick one area a month and just say to yourself; that area’s an eight or nine I’m really happy with that, but this area over here, it’s only a two.
Then ask: okay, what small steps can I take that are going to allow me to bring more of my core essence into being in this one area?
And you can then as the month goes through however, however you like to keep an eye on things, you can just keep checking in with yourself, and I would set it as a monthly review, like every month to check in with the SHEro chart and be like, okay, how is my essence showing up? You’ll start to notice that when we bring these things consciously forward, those areas start to expand and we start to take up more space.
We start to become truer to who we are because we hadn’t realised that we weren’t, or it’s the things that we thought would be a nice to do rather than, of course, being your truth is essential.
When you are more filled up, when you are being more of your truth, you feel more fulfilled, you feel happier, you have more time for others. Your relationships with others become deeper and more connected and more honest. The people around you feel it, it has this really positive ripple effect throughout all of your life, how you show up for work, and the activities that you’re spending your time doing.
So that would be my first recommendation to you is to do the SHEro Wheel and just notice what areas could do with some extra support, what you can do to implement more of your essence in those particular areas of your life.
If you’re a 10 out of 10 in all areas of your life then ‘high-five’ that’s fantastic. I don’t think I’ve ever hit 10 out of 10 for ALL of my chart ever. So yes, that’s my aspiration.
And the second thing as I stated at the very beginning of this course, was talking about decision making as one of the things people come to me the most for.
How do I know what decision to make?
I think I’m going to make the right decision, but it’s going to upset someone, and
Oh my goodness, I’ve made this decision and I haven’t done anything in two years have gone past and I’m still here and I still haven’t taken action or haven’t taken as much action as I want.
Now you have the most powerful filter for when you need to make a decision. You don’t just go, yes, that’s what I’m going to do and I know that it’s right, only to have a couple of days later you go, ‘oh, maybe, maybe I was wrong, maybe that intuitive feel… maybe I just imagined that.’
What you can do now, you have something concrete in front of you, your ROOTS in front of you to ask:
Does this allow me to express more of my essence making this choice?
Does that allow me to express my essence or is it going take away from my essence?
And you can start making decisions on whether it’s pulling you forward into the expression of who you are, or whether it’s going to make you shrink back.
Obviously, we want to make more decisions that are pulling us forward and allowing us to express our truth, rather than the ones that are making you suppress who you are.
Now, sometimes in life there are compromises and you might have to go: do you know what, I don’t want to do this. It’s not pretty, it doesn’t support my essence, but I, I have to…
But I’m talking about the bigger decisions. Like what are you going to follow in your life? What relationships are you going to follow? Where are you going to go traveling? What hobbies are you going to pick up? How can you show up more? What kind of clothes do you want to wear? All of that, run it through your essence filter.
Is this adding to my essence?
Is this allowing me to express more of my essence?
And there you have a really profound tool that you’ve spent the last couple of days, couple of weeks, really crafting to know this is your truth.
So don’t negate everything you have just done. It’s profound and simple, and it can be both.
So you have your filter. Next time you have to make a decision and you find yourself umming and ahhing, or looking outside yourself for answers, and having other people give you your suggestions which just overwhelmed you, or you feel judged, come back to centre, pause and just take a moment to reconnect to your essence.
Do a power pose if you have to, to bring back that energy for you, and then run that decision through your filter.
Is this going to add to your essence?
Is it allowing you to express more of your essence in the world?
Well then yes, it’s a yes. It might still be difficult. There might be challenges to overcome, but you know it’s the right thing for you, because it’s adding to who you are.
Whereas the decisions that take away from your essence that maybe go against your values and contradict your values, your essence word and statements, if you had statements… well really you want to do much less of that.
So they’re two really easy and profound ways that you can make sure that your essence is at the core of who you are and how you express yourself in the world. Because like I said at the beginning, the deeper we can sink our roots, the more we can really embody the truth of who we are. The further we can reach, the bigger the dreams you can reach for, the more energy you can hold to create the kind of life you want to create, which then creates a kind of world that you want to live in. So I hope you’ve had as much fun as I have.
I hope that you found this really useful and I would love to hear, obviously your acronyms, but about how you’re actually going to use this in the world.
I mean, I love creating courses, love playing with acronyms, hanging out with trees. I love all of that. But what I want, is that what I create for you is super practical. I want it to be something that you can actually use in your life and to be something that when you’re like; Shit, I’m stuck right now, I don’t know what to do. Oh, hang on a minute. I’m going to ROOT into my essence. So that you have this tool in your toolkit, so you know what to do when you feel stuck.
You know what to do when you feel alone or you just don’t know what to do.
It’s like you come back to centre, you pause, you ROOT into your essence. You just align with the essence of who you are. Oh, feel your body relax, come home to itself, and then off you go again.
Thank you so much for joining me. I hope you’ve enjoyed it and I look forward to hearing how you get on.
The Witches Wheel is based on a traditional coaching tool called the Wheel of Life.
Choose 10 areas of your life that are important to you, they could include:
Or use the values/feelings that are important to you, for example:
Once you have chosen items, write them onto The SHEro Wheel below, and rate each area out of 10.
0 = Not satisfied with area at all
10 = Fully satisfied
The lower the number, suggests you have some improvements to make in that area.
This exercise gives you an overview of where you currently are in your life, what’s working well, and what needs more of your attention.
Let’s talk about making decisions.
You now have a very clear filter to run your decisions through, but what if doubt still sneaks in.
First of all, it’s okay to change your mind.
Secondly, although we can change our mind, we only want to do so if it’s in alignment with what we want and need.
When we feel pressured into making a decision or changing our mind it’s often to do with judgement. Either judging ourselves, or in response to the judgements (real of perceived) from others.
Often when we react to something, in this case thinking we need to conform/change our mind about our choices, we are responding to our belief about it.
Believing that you need to put others first, believing that other people know better than you, believing that you can’t trust yourself or believing that you can’t have what you want.
Our beliefs are often learned, and not something that we have ever thought to question.
When you notice yourself react to something, feeling uncomfortable, angry, annoyed or questioning your choices, ask yourself the following questions, (inspired by Christina Baldwin):
Exploring these questions is an act of responsibility on your part.
And when you take responsibility for your choices, your growth and where necessary for changing your mind, it is truly ROOTing into Your Wisdom and fully expressing your true essence!
