The Importance of Magickal Record-Keeping

Maybe you’re a lover of journaling, or perhaps you’ve never got into the practice of it.

Whatever your experience, over this lesson of Magickal Record-Keeping I’m going to introduce you to four different types of journal:

  • The Book of Shadows
  • The Grimoire
  • The Book of Brilliance
  • The Book of Mirrors

Try all of them – or try none of them. It’s entirely up to you.

But I do recommend you keep at least one journal of your magickal experiences.

You may keep four separate notebooks, or keep everything in one journal.

You may even decide that you prefer the idea of a loose-leaf ring binder, so you can easily move things around and keep things in different sections.

You may record all of your experiences, or only keep a sporadic record of the things that really stood out for you.

Whatever you choose to do, I encourage you to do it, as it becomes a valuable record of your growth and experiences as a Modern-Day Witch.

(It’s also handy to be able to have a reference of what worked really effectively for you, and of course, what didn’t!)

This isn’t about having your best grammar or fanciest handwriting. It’s about a process of connecting with yourself and your magic in a more intimate, honest way.

So it doesn’t matter if you make a mistake and cross or tear things out. This is your journal, for your eyes only.
