Let’s talk about…. Trust

It’s a big one!

Just today in my group a question was asked about doing something the ‘right’ way.

The question was in relation to completing rituals.

Was this person doing it ‘wrong’ if they were doing it their own way and not doing it the EXACT way it had been prescribed.

They even questioned that perhaps they were just being lazy by not wanting to do the ritual in the way it had been set out.

Which actually had us chuckling at the hashtag #lazywitch – or maybe that was us cackling!

How many times have you found yourself in a similar situation?

Questioning yourself.

Double guessing yourself.

Going against your inner guidance system.

Berating yourself.

Making yourself wrong.

Thinking that you weren’t good enough/didn’t have enough experience/weren’t dedicated enough…

PHEW! The list goes on!

But what if… instead of the exhaustive list of the different ways you can make yourself and your way of doing something wrong, and by assumption believing that somebody else has it right…

What if you trusted yourself?

Trusted your feelings.

Trusted that voice inside that wants to do something your own way.

No questioning, second guessing, calling yourself lazy.

You just did it your way.

Some days this looked like playing by the rules.

Other days it meant making up your own rules entirely.

But always coming from the place of trusting yourself.

How would your life be different?

How could you better use that exhaustive energy of questioning yourself?

Even better… how much more fun could you have, how much more present could you be for yourself and others, if you just let yourself do it your way?

As I burst into song, singing in an overly dramatic fashion… “I did it myyyyyyyyyy waaaaayyyyyy

And if you were wondering what my thoughts were on the rituals….

Yes, I trained for two years as a Priestess.

Yes, it was a year ago that I dedicated as a Priestess of Cerridwen on the shores of Lake Bala.

Yes, I can put together beautiful rituals and understand the importance of them.

And yes, I often do things my own way lol.

The thing about rituals is that there’s magic in doing something the way in which everyone else does it. It connects you to the collective energy, and you add to the collective energy.

However, if it’s too cumbersome, long-winded or complicated, you’re likely not to do it as often as you’d like, if at all.

So, use the ritual as a base for your own ritual.

Take what works for you and honour the process.

It’s better that you show up for something, than do nothing.

If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing badly.

That wasn’t a typo: If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing badly.

Think about that for a moment…

We’ve often been taught the opposite.

However, if it’s worth doing, it’s worth just doing it, even if it’s only a small and half-hearted effort (unless it’s something like brain surgery – then I want you to do your absolute best!!)

But if it’s a ritual. Healthy eating. Exercising. Starting to write your book. Learning a new language. Supporting your community.

Whatever your heart is calling you to do, just start and do it your way.

Trust you’re being called to do it for a reason.

And trust that your way will unfold perfectly just for you!
