My Story
When I was growing up, apart from the obvious anatomy, I never realised I was different from a man, and I certainly never considered myself any less capable than a man.
As a child I saw my mum doing the wallpapering, the painting and decorating, I’d heard her talk of roofing a house and fixing a car – none of which you’d ever find my step-dad doing.
She’d also cook and clean.
At school I excelled academically. I had no reason to think that I was any less intelligent than the boys, especially when my grades and exam results were higher than most of theirs.
In fact I never realised that as a woman, I would ever have been considered less able in any area of my life, just because I was a woman.

Why do we find it so hard to trust the unseen?
I’ve been into ‘woo woo’, before ‘woo woo’ was even a term.
I’ve had crazy experiences with crystals, and after the Dr’s couldn’t help the eczema that I developed, it completely cleared up after working with an energy healer.
I’ve worked with women and seen nothing short of miraculous changes in them and their lives. You could dismiss this as ‘coincidence’, but I’ve seen too many thousands of them to know that is the case.
Yet despite accepting ‘weird’ stuff as my normal life, nothing was quite as surreal as when I was pregnant and I dreamt that I was given a little boy to look after.

I can remember when I was 10yrs old telling my friends that I wanted to go to University. I have no idea where this desire came from, as neither of my parents went to University and I don’t ever remember them encouraging me to do so, but it was just something I knew I wanted.
And I did it – twice. Two degrees later and I still love learning.
In fact, sometimes feel a little sad, that there is no way that I can possibly learn about everything that I’m interested in, let alone read all of the books that I want to, in just one lifetime.
Unfortunately my love of education and knowledge wasn’t always celebrated when I was a child, and I can totally relate to this quote from Harry Potter:

My Story
This year has been a true ‘coming home’ for me.
This is a bit of a stream of consciousness, written on the edge of my bed, in the dark, while my two favourite boys sleep next to me… Let’s see where it goes….
When I teach about the stages in The SHEro’s Journey, my favourite part is The Return – The stage when we get to return ‘home’.
We return home after our adventures, having overcome our trials and tribulations, often a little battered and bruised, but also knowing a bit more about ourselves and how we show up in the world.
Ever since I was a teenager I’ve longed to know more about myself. Always searching for ‘who I am’, feeling that there is a greater meaning to life, and always looking for my ‘purpose’.
