Routine is Dangerous

Routine is Dangerous

Listen. Because listening’s important:

Hi and welcome to the Re-Enchant Your Life reminder.

Your sacred pause in the day where you’re encouraged to take a moment to stop and tune into your inner wisdom and become present, so that you can reconnect to your personal power and confidently embrace who you’re becoming, as you Re-Enchant Your life and create the change you truly desire.

Today you’re being reminded that routine can be dangerous.

Take a moment to consider your routines, the things you habitually do without ever really having to think about it.

Routines can be supportive. They allow you to do things with ease and little, or less, effort.

However, routines can also sneak you into habitual patterns, and prevent you from seeing new opportunities.

They can get you stuck in a rut physically, emotionally, energetically and spiritually.

Routines can make you complacent about your thoughts, beliefs and the consequences of your actions.

They can make you think that it’s safer and more comfortable to be in your comfort zone.

This can make routines more dangerous than risk.

Risk makes you consider the options available to you, it reminds you of what you have to lose, and also what you have to gain.

Risk makes you consider if the outcome is important enough for you to actually take action.

It allows you to consider if you are living a life aligned with your values and your truth.

Risk brings your conscious awareness to how you’re currently living and it presents an opportunity for growth.

Even if you decide against taking the risk, you have looked at your options and made a conscious choice based on what’s important to you.

Routine doesn’t often allow this type of regular reflection.

In this very moment, just pause and take a breath, as you consider what routines you find yourself in.

Today’s SHEro Action:

Today’s SHEro action is to think about your routines.

Evaluate if these routines, whether they be activities, thoughts or actions, serve you or prevent your growth.

Are these routines aligned with your truth, your values and desires?

Which are you consciously keeping, and which need a makeover, a shake-up, or removing altogether?

Pause, and take a breath. As you open yourself up to opportunities and growth.

Today’s Affirmation:

“I choose growth over routine”

I’ll see you tomorrow for your daily reminder to Re-Enchant Your Life with me, Rebecca-Anuwen,

In the meantime, enjoy breaking free of the routines that bind you as you walk your SHEro’s Journey!

Sometimes it’s great to have a routine.

It simplifies things, making everyday mundane tasks easier to do.

However, it’s also important to regularly assess if what you spend your time thinking about and doing, actually serve you, or have you been doing them out of habit.

Is there a better way to spend your time and energy?

Routinely getting up, brushing my teeth and having a shower serves me. It doesn’t take much thought and I feel much better for it.

It’s just something I do and don’t need to pay much attention to.

But routine hasn’t always served me.

There was a time when I was painfully shy.

The story I routinely told myself was that I was shy, and I believed it.

This routine belief meant that it never even occurred to me to put myself forward for anything that required me to be in front of an audience, or to speak up, I shared before how I’d even avoid making telephone calls.

I believed this story and felt sick at the idea of giving a talk.

Yet… when years later I took the risk and did get up in front of a crowd of people I loved it – well after the initial nerves lol

These days I don’t have any issues speaking to large crowds either in person or over video conferencing calls.

People find it hard to believe that once I was painfully shy.

It took me breaking from the habit, from the pattern of that story so that I could re-write a new one.

Don’t Fear Your Own Power

Don’t Fear Your Own Power

Today you’re being reminded not to fear your own power.

You are a powerful being.

You have the ability to create and destroy within you.

And yet, as natural as this power is, as much as it is an inherent part of your being, you may have been taught to fear your power, and to avoid it altogether.

This can be especially true for women who have traditionally been told they should be caring, loving and nurturing.

The mothers, the caregivers, the compassionate friend, the people who should put other’s before themselves. Who are often taught that as women they’re expected to prioritise the comfort and well-being of others over themselves.

Power can be seen as a dominant force, aggressive in nature, and both of these are generally considered by ‘polite society’ as not becoming of a woman.

And to this I would swear, but instead I will choose to say – what a load of rubbish.

As a woman you have the power to create, whether that’s children, poetry, stories, cakes, art or ideas.

That power to take an idea, a seed, and birth it into the world is incredible.

This is not a power over, or a dominating power.

It is power with.

A power that co-creates, that harnesses the energies that swirl around you and within you.

Yes, this power can be fierce, think of a mumma bear protecting her cubs, or the power of a mother nature.

This power is needed to bring change, to protect that which you care about.

Don’t suppress your power, when you do so, you turn it inwards, and all sorts of symptoms can occur because of that.

Embody your power, dance with your power, make friends with your power.

What does it want you to do?

What does it want to co-create with you?

How does it want you to embody it?

Your power is already within you, it’s time for you to embrace it.

In this very moment, just pause and take a breath, as you feel into your inherent power.

Today’s SHEro Action:

Today’s SHEro action is to think about your relationship with your power.

What are your experiences with women who you consider to be powerful?

As you were growing up who were the powerful women in the books and films you read and watched?

Did they have power over others, or power with others?

On a scale of 1-10 how powerful do you feel?

What needs to change to increase that number?

Pause, and take a breath. As you open yourself up to your own power.

Today’s Affirmation:

“I am a powerful woman”

I’ll see you tomorrow for your daily reminder to Re-Enchant Your Life with me, Rebecca-Anuwen,

In the meantime, enjoy dancing in your power as you shimmy along your SHEro’s Journey!

Our relationship to Power can be warped, especially as a woman’s power is less about strength and dominance, but more about her inner power and inner knowing.

I believe the seat of a woman’s power resides in her ability to hold the void, to hold the darkness, the energy of the energetic womb space (no physical womb necessary).

In the darkness we have the ability to create from just a seed, the seed of an idea, the seeds of possibility.

Yet in our culture we’ve been taught to fear the darkness.

We’ve been told that in the darkness is where the monsters reside.

Now obviously, I’m not talking about being careless and walking down dark alleys that you know to be dangerous… but we need to learn to re-embrace the darkness.

In the darkness is where we connect to our intuition, it’s where we have deep inner knowing, it’s where we trust our feelings, it’s where we know what can’t be explained.

In the darkness is where we nourish and nurture ourselves, we go to sleep we close our eyes and sink into the rest of darkness, when we kiss we close our eyes and sink into the pleasure in the darkness.

It’s in this darkness where a woman has her sense of power and yet society tells us to be afraid of the darkness, to be afraid of this power, to distrust it, to disown it.

It’s time to reclaim the darkness, to reclaim that inner power.

The power of creation, the power of intuition, the power of inspiration, the power of the mysteries, the power of trusting yourself, the power in not needing to have all of the answers, the power of stepping forward just because you know it’s the right thing to do.

Your power lies in learning to trust yourself once more and that power lies within the darkness.

Cancel Things

Cancel Things

Today you’re being reminded to give yourself permission to cancel things.

Instead of putting something off for days, weeks or possibly months, you can just cancel it.

Too much of your energy is wasted when you put off, delay and postpone those things that you don’t want to do, and will possibly end up cancelling much further down the line anyway.

The same goes for saying ‘Yes’ to things that you have no, or very little, intention of doing or attending.

Cancelling or saying ‘No’ immediately, frees up your energy to focus on the things that you are actually going to do.

Whereas postponing or saying ‘Yes’ knowing that you will end up sending last minute apologies, keeps your energy attached to the situation, constantly draining you little by little. Always having to be reminded of it.

Whereas a cancelling it or saying ‘No’, keeps your energy running free and clear.

Pause, and take a breath. As you give yourself permission to cancel things.

Today’s SHEro Action:

Today’s SHEro action is to assess any commitments or activities that you have postponed more than twice.

Perhaps these are tasks that you have carried forward in your diary or planner for more than a month.

Or events or meetings that you keep changing the date of.

Consider if these things are really still aligned with you.

Would you feel a sense of relief if you just cancelled them altogether?

If they still need to be done, but you really don’t want to do them, could you outsource them?

Pause, and take a breath. As you allow yourself to say ‘No’.

Today’s Affirmation:

“I free myself from commitments that drain me”

I’ll see you tomorrow for your daily reminder to Re-Enchant Your Life with me, Rebecca-Anuwen,

In the meantime, enjoy feeling freer on Your SHEro’s Journey!

PostScript

How many times have you said ‘Yes’ to something because in the moment you felt obliged to or didn’t know how to say ‘no’?

Perhaps you thought you ‘should’ do it or were worried that you would let someone down if you didn’t.

So, you say ‘Yes’, and then dream up ways to get out of it as the date gets closer and closer.

And as the date continues to get closer it becomes harder and harder to back out.

Perhaps you do give a last-minute apology, or you do go and end up resenting it.

Either isn’t fair on you or the person or event that you’re wanting to cancel on.

Practice saying ‘No’, so that when you’re asked to do or attend something that you really don’t want and need to attend, you can say ‘No’ politely and immediately, with your energy aligned, so that everyone involved knows where they stand, leaving you free to do and think about other things.

Growth Means Letting Go

Growth Means Letting Go

Today you’re being reminded that growth means letting things go.

As you grow, expand and move forward, it’s only natural that you will have to let things go.

Some things will go because you’ve outgrown them, and they’re no longer aligned with who you’re becoming.

Some things will have to go because they’re weighing you down and keeping you stuck, and that’s just becoming increasingly frustrating.

Other times things will go, just because it feels the right thing to do – it may not make logical sense, but you know to trust the feelings and insights you get.

And remember, just because it is the right thing to do, doesn’t mean it will be easy, or pain or resistance free.

Even when you know, without doubt that you need to let something go so that you can fully step into your true self, doesn’t mean that you can’t or won’t grieve what you’re letting go of.

Honour the loss, but don’t dwell in it.

Honour the loss and acknowledge your growth and who you’re becoming.

Pause, and take a breath. As you let go of what you need to.

Today’s SHEro Action:

Today’s SHEro action is to notice what’s holding you back from becoming who you want to be.

What’s weighing you down and preventing you from expanding in your life?

What do you need to let go of, spend less time doing, or less time in the company of?

Acknowledge that some people, places, thoughts, patterns and things we outgrow, that doesn’t make you a bad person, it just means that you’re honouring your growth.

Pause, and take a breath. As you allow yourself to grow into the person you are meant to be.

Today’s Affirmation:

“I release myself from the things I’ve outgrown”

One of the hardest things I had to accept was that I’d outgrown was my marriage.

We’d been together for 10 years.

We’d got together in my early 20’s and it had been love, or probably lust, at first sight.

On the outside everything looked perfect. We had careers, a beautiful house, cars, holidays, a great social life etc etc.

But inside we were very different people to who we’d been when we first met, and we hadn’t been growing along the same path.

Our values and beliefs were different.

We now wanted very different things from our lives, and they weren’t going to be compatible.

The hardest part was that nothing was actually wrong – we weren’t fighting, being horrible to each other or being disrespectful to the relationship.

We were friends and still enjoyed each other’s company, we just no longer wanted the same things – I’m not sure we ever really did.

It was hard to justify, as giving up on a relationship, especially a marriage, and especially a marriage that didn’t appear to be broken in the traditional sense, appeared to be failing, that we should’ve just tried harder.

We were lucky in that we didn’t have any children together, so in some regards it was just us we had to think about.

And even though we both knew it was the right thing to do, it was still incredibly sad.

Yet, after the pain and the paperwork, we are both so much happier.

It was absolutely the right thing to let each other go.

I can’t even imagine what would’ve happened to us both is we hadn’t been strong enough to let go.

Take the Bold Choice

Take the Bold Choice

Today you’re being reminded, or rather encouraged, to take the bold choice.

Bold choices create magic.

They may feel scary, but once you commit and take action, magic weaves and propels you further than you ever thought possible.

There is a time for pausing and assessing. For ensuring your choices are aligned with your truth and your dreams.

And then there is a time when you must take action.

To step out of all that is familiar to you so that you can move forward towards what you want to consciously create.

Step up and out.

Be clear in your decision and clear in your action.

Sometimes taking the leap of faith is what you need to do, so that you can see and understand what you are really capable of.

This time is now.

Step forward boldly, with the courage of your convictions and the passions of your heart guiding you forward.

In this very moment, just pause and take a breath, as move confidently in the direction of your dreams.

Today’s SHEro Action:

Today’s SHEro action is to make that bold choice.

Take a moment to focus on your dreams and all you want to achieve.

Then ask your inner guidance for the one bold action that you can take that will move you closer to these dreams and goals.

What do you need to do to take this bold action?

Do you need to just do it, or do you need to ask for support and accountability?

You don’t have to do it alone, but it is you that has to make the choice.

Pause, and take a breath. As you prepare to take bold action.

Today’s Affirmation:

“I take bold action and create magic”

I’ll see you tomorrow for your daily reminder to Re-Enchant Your Life with me, Rebecca-Anuwen,

In the meantime, enjoy boldly moving forward on Your SHEro’s Journey!

Many people tell me that they can’t take action as they don’t have clarity.

But I actually believe that when you take action you get clarity.

We can’t think our way through confusion, it’s the thoughts that are confusing us.

Yes, we need to use thoughts for discernment and processes, but we generally won’t find clarity there – there’s too many options.

However, once you start to take action, the clarity comes.

You take the action and you instantly get clear on if it’s working or not, if it feels right, if it’s playing out how you expected.

If it is, success, you do more of that.

If it doesn’t, it’s more information and further clarity that you can use to move you towards what you do want.

I shared this thought in a class recently and someone shared a Rumi quote with me that perfectly sums this idea up, I’ll leave you with the quote:

“As you start to walk on the way, the way appears.” – Rumi

Feel More Awe

Feel More Awe

Today you’re being reminded to feel more awe.

Life can be so fast as we rush from one thing to the next, working through endless to-do lists, and trying to catch up with everything that needs to be done, that we can spend much of our time focussing on the future and the ‘what next?’.

But for today, focus on being present as you work through your to-do list and connect with the awe that surrounds you.

Feel the wonder and awe in this very moment.

The awe that technology allows us to connect even though you may never have met me.

The awe that you can do and achieve so much, even on the days when you feel like you’ve done nothing.

The awe for your body that despite everything it keeps doing its best.

The awe that the sun always rises, and the moon keeps her rhythm. That the spring follows the winter and autumn follows summer – always, and without a human telling it to do so.

The awe of the small moments, a smile, a stolen kiss.

The awe of what you have done and overcome.

The awe of nature, mother earth and all that live on her.

The awe that we can make such spectacular mistakes, and often more than once.

The awe that we can give and receive such depth of love.

The awe that no matter what we experience that we get the chance to start over again.

In this very moment, just pause and take a breath, as you look around you with awe in your heart.

Today’s SHEro Action:

Today’s SHEro action is to pause and become present.

Take a slow deep breath and let it fill your belly. And then exhale slowly and fully.

Unclench your jaw, relax your face, and let your shoulders drop.

Now from this place list 15 things that you can be in awe of right now. The big and the small.

Pause, and take a breath. As you remind yourself that life is full of miracles, awe and wonder.

Today’s Affirmation:

“My life is full of awe and wonder”

I’ll see you tomorrow for your daily reminder to Re-Enchant Your Life with me, Rebecca-Anuwen,

In the meantime, enjoy feeling more awe as you walk Your SHEro’s Journey!

I love living in awe.

One of the easiest places for me to connect to awe is in nature.

I step outside and look to the sky, or of course look to my favourite trees and instantly feel in awe. In awe of their presence, their strength, their beauty, their very essence of being.

Sometimes I feel awe at how small and insignificant I am, in comparison to the universe around me, and it puts things into perspective for me.

And sometimes I feel in awe at how significant I am to my own existence, and how much I can impact the world around me – hopefully mostly in a positive way!

I feel awe every time I see the plants start to awaken in spring, when nature fights for her place in the cities.

Awe at how incredibly generous (most) people are.

Awe at our creativity.

Awe at our endurance and ability to overcome.

I love to look around me and find the awe in the everyday mundane moments of life.

Sometimes I have to look harder than others, but it’s always there.
