RECOGNISE Your Truth

What Makes You, You?
Discovering Your Inner Landscape

Exploring the values that are important to you, along with your personal preference for feelings, can help you understand more about the truth of who you.

They can shine a light on why you make certain decisions and avoid particular situations. Why you like one person and why another totally annoys you. It can help you to understand what holds you back and what pulls you forward.

Getting clear on what values and feelings make up your own inner landscape, can give you essential information on how to navigate the world of your outer landscape.

Step 1

Go through the PDF lists of values and feelings below. Circle the ones that are most important to you.

You will probably want to circle many of them! Focus on the ones that are really the most important to you.

The lists below aren’t exhaustive, feel free to add your own too!

Step 2

Go back through the list and now narrow it right down to:

  • Two values
  • Three Feelings

Yes – just two values and three feelings.

Notice what you’re willing to trade off, what you are resistant to let go of, and where you feel really stuck.

Remember this is about you aligning with what’s important to you. Not what you think is right, or what looks best, but what FEELS aligned with who you are.

If you get stuck trying to narrow down your list, ask yourself the following questions, and notice any patterns of themes that come up:

  • What do you look for in a friend?
  • What do you look for in a romantic partner?
  • Who do you admire?
  • Who inspires you?
  • How do you respond in a crisis or other difficult situation?
  • What qualities would you expect to see in the best version of myself?
  • How do you interact with people, and how do you treat them?
  • What qualities in your parents or grandparents do I admire?
  • What choices have you made in the past that made you proud?
  • What achievements are you most proud of?
Identifying What's Really Important to You
Prioritising You

Below is a PDF with a list of 18 items that many consider to be important in life.

Complete the following two stages to get really clear on what’s important to you.

Step 1: Prioritising

Prioritise the list into the following categories:

  • A – 6 Essentials
  • The things that are without doubt the most important to you, and would never compromise on.
  • B – 6 Nice to haves
  • The things that are important to you but you would be willing to let go of in certain situations.
  • C – 6 Non-essentials
  • The things that you would be willing to be without.

Step 2: Ranking

Next, rank the 18 items into priority order based on your priorities at this point in your life.

No joint places allowed!

Yes, I know these may be a difficult exercises… but they’re designed to help you focus and get super clear on what is really, truly important to you.

As you approach this exercise, try not to ‘think’ about your answers, but go with what FEELS right, not what you *think* is right.

And remember, this is only for right now, your priorities may change next year, next month or even next week, but the chances are your Essentials will remain constant.

Your Unique Essence
Bringing it All Together

After completing these exercises, you now have a deeper understanding of what’s really important to you, as your list of qualities, traits, values and feelings are beginning to reflect the truth of who you are.

Your list is made up of:

  • 2 values
  • 3 feelings
  • 6 ‘Essential’ areas of your life
  • Qualities and traits from our ‘Pizza Topping’ exercise

This combined list is starting to help you understand your true essence.

In the next section: OWN Your Unique Blend of Magic, we’re going to refine this essence even more.

What Kind of Pizza Topping Are You?
Connecting with Your Unconscious

Often when we do value/feeling type of exercises, we can give the answers that we think are the right answers, rather than the ones that are true for us.

Sometimes the true answers are buried so deeply under layers of expectations and conditioning that it can be hard to access them.

This exercise is designed to bypass your logical and rational side, and dive deep into your truth.

This exercise works best when done without any prior knowledge of what I’m going to say, so watching the introduction video to this section works best; jump to 3 min 40 secs to get started, or scroll down to get the list here:

  • If you were an animal what kind of animal would you be?
  • If you were a colour, what colour would you be?
  • If you were a type of biscuit, what biscuit would you be?
  • If you were a season, what season would you be?
  • If you were a pizza topping, what pizza topping would you be?
  • If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?
  • If you were an item of clothing, what type of clothing would you be?
  • If you were a piece of fruit, what kind of fruit would you be?
  • If you were a book, would genre of book would you be?
  • If you were a film, what genre of film would you be?
  • If you were a restaurant, what kind of restaurant would you be?
  • If you were a crystal, what kind of crystal would you be?

Now look at your answers, and consider what this is reflecting about yourself. Think of the item and how you feel about it, what it reminds you of, what it represents to you.
