Examine Your Beliefs

Examine Your Beliefs

Listen. Because listening’s important:

Hi and welcome to the Re-Enchant Your Life reminder.

Your sacred pause in the day where you’re encouraged to take a moment to stop and tune into your inner wisdom and become present, so that you can reconnect to your personal power and confidently embrace who you’re becoming, as you Re-Enchant Your life and create the change you truly desire.

Today you’re being reminded to examine your beliefs.

You don’t have to experience life the way in which you’ve been told.

Your family, community, groups that you belong to, will have their own ideas, beliefs and stories about how the world operates.

These stories and beliefs are based on their experiences, what they’ve been taught and their expectations of themselves and others.

These beliefs can often be at the core of these groups, and sharing these beliefs bonds them together.

These stories do not have to be yours, and may not be true for you and that’s okay.

Perhaps you’ve heard the following and at some level have internalised them and have them as part of your unconscious story:

Security comes from having the right type of education or career, or being married to a particular type of person.

You have to look a particular way to have success.

Money is the root of all evil.

The starving artist.

X type of people are bad.

Y type of people are lazy.

Z type of people can’t be trusted.

The world owes you nothing, you have to work hard to get what you want.

The good guy comes last.

But perhaps you want to be an abundantly wealthy self-taught, unmarried, artist who is kind and generous to all that you know.

If you run the previous stories and allow other people’s beliefs and expectations to dictate your experience of life, it’s unlikely, or will be very hard, to achieve your own definition of success as the generous, abundantly wealthy, unmarried, artist.

Once you recognise the stories that you’ve been taught and influenced by, you can let them go and replace them, or be open to replacing them with your own experiences and beliefs.

In this very moment, just pause and take a breath, as you re-write your own beliefs about life.

Today’s SHEro Action:

Today’s SHEro action is to explore the beliefs that you take for granted.

Money and love are two very charged patterns of belief to explore.

What do you believe to be true about money or love?

What were the stories, or phrases that your family, community, or groups, commonly shared about these topics?

Do you truly agree with them?

Are these your experiences too?

Do you still want these to be your stories and experiences? And of course, ‘Yes’ is a great answer too if they support, nourish you and cause no harm, intended or otherwise, to others.

But if it’s a ‘No’, start looking for stories and beliefs that re-enforce your new beliefs.

Pause, and take a breath. As you experience life in your own way.

Today’s Affirmation:

“I choose to experience life in my own way”

I’ll see you tomorrow for your daily reminder to Re-Enchant Your Life with me, Rebecca-Anuwen,

In the meantime, enjoy creating your own experiences on Your SHEro’s Journey!

I shared in yesterday’s reminder how when I stopped drinking my parents thought I’d joined a cult.

Drinking was so much a part of their culture and identity, they didn’t understand how someone could choose that path when it wasn’t for health reasons.

One of the things that I was constantly asked, especially by my Step-Dad was ‘How do you socialise?’

I always thought that was an odd question, as there are so many other ways to socialise that don’t involve drinking, or if I was out and alcohol was being served, I just chose to drink something different.

Back then sometimes it made others feel uncomfortable, but I never did, I was clear on my choices and my why.

Often heard ‘oh one won’t hurt’. So, I started using the excuse that I was driving, and that was more acceptable for people.

These days, people don’t really notice when people don’t drink, or choose not to.

But I recently found out that my Step-Dad had stopped drinking.

My first petty thought was ‘well how do you socialise?’

But actually, my real thought was ‘go him, that’s fantastic’. He still goes to the pub regularly to see all his friends, but he chooses a soft drink over the decades of beer and whiskey.

The moral of the story really is, that no matter your age, no matter how ingrained a habit is, no matter how long you held a belief, it’s never too late to change your story.

Walk Your Own Path

Walk Your Own Path

Today you’re being reminded to walk your own path.

As you step out and choose to follow your own path, you may feel alone, because others don’t understand your choices.

It takes courage to stay true to yourself, especially when the world around you is invested in getting you to conform.

Conforming makes others feel comfortable.

They understand the rules, and they can make people feel safe.

Deep down, although many people may want change, they don’t make the changes because they feel confused at how their desires go against all they’ve been taught, so instead of exploring these feelings and their options, many people numb the feelings with various tools such as TV, food, alcohol, shopping, scrolling through social media…

When you choose to walk your own path, it can leave you feeling alone as many people don’t make the choice to follow theirs.

This can be compounded as when you do choose your own path, you can start to see the world, and behaviours in a very different way than you once did, different even from your friends and family who you thought once knew you best.

However, don’t allow loneliness to lower your standards or compromise your values and those things that are important to you.

In this very moment, just pause and take a breath, as you reconnect to what’s truly important to you.

Today’s SHEro Action:

Today’s SHEro action is to seek out people and communities that share your values and beliefs of the world.

These could be in-person communities or on-line groups. You can connect with the shared stories of other people walking their own path through books, articles and podcasts.

Remind yourself that you aren’t alone.

Yes, you may feel different and/or misunderstood from your family and oldest friends.

Maybe they don’t ‘get you’ anymore.

But there are a whole lot more people who are searching to connect with someone just like you too.

Be open to creating new friendships.

Be okay with feeling lonely at times.

Reconnect with what’s important to you and where you are heading.

Pause, and take a breath. As you get clear with what’s important to you.

Today’s Affirmation:

“I consciously create my own life”

I’ll see you tomorrow for your daily reminder to Re-Enchant Your Life with me, Rebecca-Anuwen,

I shared in my book The SHEro Archetypes that when I was younger, I used to be a fairly heavy drinker. Drinking was very much part of my communities’ culture, in fact I had grown up with my parents owning bars and restaurants, and they were where I had my first summer jobs.

When I left home to go to university most of my socialising revolved around drinking. And of course, this continued throughout the next few years.

That was until my final assignments were due in, and I had to stay in and cram.

After about a week of not going out, I had what I can only describe now as ‘a moment of clarity’ – it literally felt as if someone had washed my eyeballs out and I could literally see clearer, like the world sparkled.

I was shocked, and made me realise just how much I’d been drinking.

There and then I made the conscious choice not to drink, or at least not to the levels I had been.

When I returned home to visit my family, instead of being pleased that I had stopped drinking so much, which of course was better for my health and overall well-being, they instead thought I had joined a cult!

It’s funny now, but at the time I was shocked.

However, to them they saw me as rejecting part of what was our family and community culture. In essence rejecting them as it could be interpreted that I was saying that their way of life was not good enough for me and I was choosing another way.

Feeling rejected by your family because of your choices can be a lonely experience, but for me it was more important that I stayed true to myself and what was important to me. As being true to me was ultimately more important to me than fitting in somewhere that I was not unconditionally accepted.

Perhaps you’ve had a similar experience when you have changed a behaviour that your own family took for granted?

Enforce Your Boundaries

Enforce Your Boundaries

Today you’re being reminded that you are absolutely allowed to enforce your boundaries.

Get clear on what you want and need.

Be clear on what you will not accept or tolerate.

Express your expectations with clarity.

Raise your standards and expect more from yourself and others.

Be clear on what you will compromise on and what is absolutely non-negotiable for you.

Boundaries do not keep people out, they just show people where the door is.

You are allowed to enforce your boundaries.

Ask someone to leave, say ‘No’, remove yourself from a situation.

You do not have to put other people’s needs or comfort before your own if it means that you are putting yourself in a situation that makes you uncomfortable.

In this very moment, just pause and take a breath, as you re-establish your boundaries.

Today’s SHEro Action:

Today’s SHEro action is to take note of where you’ve been too relaxed with your own boundaries, if you’re unsure, consider where you have been feeling uncomfortable, stressed or anxious.

Where do you feel pushed to your limits?

Then consider some options that might be available to you so that you can re-establish these boundaries.

Start small and know what you want and need.

Be clear with yourself and others about the situation and your expectations about it.

Seek support.

Be assertive in your communication.

Recognise your feelings and honour them.

Boundaries are about self-respect, give yourself permission to enforce them and maintain them.

Pause, and take a breath. As you feel into your own boundaries.

Today’s Affirmation:

“I allow myself to enforce and maintain my boundaries for my own well-being”

I’ll see you tomorrow for your daily reminder to Re-Enchant Your Life with me, Rebecca-Anuwen,

In the meantime, enjoy having clear boundaries as you walk Your SHEro’s Journey!

I often think about boundaries being like what I would call a ‘cookie-no’.

And what I mean by that is that if my little boy wanted a cookie and I say ‘no’, he knows that he can ask again and he might get a cookie, more likely if he asks his dad… however if he was about to put himself in danger and I said ‘no’ he would clearly feel the difference of the intention behind my ‘no’.

The same goes for you when you set boundaries.

If somebody asks you for a favour and you want to say ‘no’, but you feel bad about saying ‘no’, the person will sense this energy and know that if they keep asking you they might be able to get you to change your mind, and they’ll keep asking until you give in and say ‘yes’.

However, if the same person was to ask you for the same thing and you checked in with yourself and it didn’t align with your energy, it wasn’t something that you wanted to do, or you had other plans, and from that aligned place you gave an energetically clear ‘no’, and you just said ‘no sorry I can’t’, they would feel the difference in your energy and they would be much more likely to leave you alone and then go and ask someone else.

So, when you think about your boundaries make sure you’re not giving yourself or other people a ‘cookie-no’.

Magic in the Mundane

Magic in the Mundane

Today you’re being reminded that there’s magic in the mundane.

When you start something new, everything feels exciting, fresh and magical. Then it becomes normal, and that once inspired idea that took courage for you to pursue, those intuitive nudges that you heard or felt so clearly are now your new normal.

You’ve grown as a person, integrated new ideas, become more skilled.

What was once new, and maybe even difficult, is now second nature to you.

Those levels of awareness and clarity that once cut through everything else are now your new base line, the foundations from where you experience the world.

The excitement is fun, the adrenaline high of overcoming obstacles can be addictive, and whilst this is still important, don’t discount the importance of the familiar just because the excitement is no longer there.

Pause, and take a breath. As you honour everything that’s now your ‘normal’ and familiar.

Today’s SHEro Action:

Today’s SHEro action is to be open to recognise all that you do now as your normal, things that you possibly take for granted, that were once exciting and new to you.

Write a list of all of these things so that you can recognise how far you’ve come.

Honour how far you’ve come on your journey, yes, of course you may still have a way to go, but you have also made great progress.

If you’ve become complacent about anything on your list, perhaps it’s time to remember how valuable the everyday normal, reliable and dependable can be.

Pause, and take a breath. As you recognise and remember the value of the magic in the everyday mundane things in life.

Today’s Affirmation:

“I reconnect to the magic in the everyday”

I’ll see you tomorrow for your daily reminder to Re-Enchant Your Life with me, Rebecca-Anuwen,

When I started practicing Kinesiology over 20 years ago, and really honing my skills at reading and feeling energy it was so exciting to feel the differences in people’s energy and learning how that energy communicated with me.

I started to apprehensively share what I could feel with my clients, as I didn’t want them to think I was crazy… but actually through sharing my experience of what I could feel allowed them a deeper understanding of what was going on for them. It gave a voice to things they hadn’t been able to understand before.

It soon became normal for me to share this information.

Then during sessions, I started to hear messages for people, and again at first I didn’t share these as I thought I was imagining them, then I was brave enough to share and the messages really resonated for people.

Then it became normal for me to share this information.

Then I started to see images, like scenes from movies, and once again it took me a while to share these with clients as it seemed too far-fetched, but once again I shared these with people and once again, they resonated.

Then it became normal for me to share this information.

These days I share everything I experience in a session, what I hear, see and feel, and I never even think not to, as it’s just so normal to me, yet to those receiving the messages and intuitive insight it’s not their everyday normal – it’s valuable information for them.

Never dismiss what you consider your normal.

Take Your Time

Take Your Time

Today you’re being reminded that you are absolutely allowed to take your time, to go slow and move at your own pace.

You’re excited about what you want to do next, but you might not be sure on your next steps.

Give yourself the gift of time and space to really feel into and explore what is right for you.

Don’t let anyone else try and make you decide or take action faster than is comfortable for you.

Take your time to get clear.

Feel into what your current needs are.

Anything that feels pressured or rushed is not the right option for you.

If you feel like making a quicker decision so that you’re accepted or aren’t seen as making a fuss, it’s not the right time for you to make the decision.

Give yourself time so that you can get clear and make the decision from a centred place, a place that supports you and has your best interests at heart.

In this very moment, just pause and take a breath, as you take your time and slow down.

Today’s SHEro Action:

Today’s SHEro action is to strengthen your boundaries and give yourself time and space to think things through.

Think about a decision(s) that you have to make, and then really feel into the outcome would support you the most in your life.

How can you ensure that you have the time and space to make a clear decision, one that has the best outcome for all involved, one that doesn’t compromise your values and boundaries?

Even if someone else is pressuring you for a quicker response, slow down and sink deep into your own knowing, and trust that you have the answers you need.

Pause, and take a breath. As you create space for yourself.

Today’s Affirmation:

“I give myself the gift of making time and space to make my decisions”

When it comes time to make a choice, we can often feel pressured or confused about what to do, or you can change your mind and feel that you can’t commit to anything, but what’s really going on behind the scenes is that we’re trying to fit in, or want to be seen as the ‘good girl’ and do what other people expect of us.

When we give ourselves the gift of time, when we can create a sacred pause and take a moment to get clear on what we want, we allow ourselves to get clear and we can make our decisions from a place of power and clarity, rather than from a place of fear and overwhelm.

It’s worth taking the time to get clear on the decision you make so that you don’t end up spending months regretting your decision or trying to change it.

It’s a fine balance of learning to trust your intuition and making the space so that you can really hear your intuition and then using your intellect and skills of discernment to know what’s truly right for you.

Many times, people have told me that they thought something was the right thing to do because it felt exciting and they felt energised, but then they were puzzled because it didn’t work out for them, they thought the excitement was their intuition guiding them.

But it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of a decision, to see nothing but the potential and the limitless possibilities that are ahead of us, but feelings of excitement doesn’t always mean it’s the choice that’s right for us

Sometimes, and it took me years to know this to be true for me too, but sometimes it’s the small quiet feeling, the subtle inner-knowing, and less excitement of ‘jazz hands’, decision that’s the right one for us, and that the quiet voice and nudges are our intuition, we just have to get quiet to hear.

It’s important that you learn what’s right for you, and you can do this by slowing down and giving yourself time, even if it’s just a few breaths before you respond.

Say ‘Yes’ to Yourself

Say ‘Yes’ to Yourself

Today you’re being reminded to say ‘Yes’ to yourself and your adventure through life.

Give yourself permission to show up fully and live the biggest and most fulfilling life you can.

Biggest doesn’t mean loudest, but it does mean doing it your own way and taking up space with your thoughts, feelings, dreams and desires.

You don’t need anyone else’s approval to do this.

You get to give yourself permission.

Say ‘yes’.

Step forward into your life and relish in it.

Allow yourself to take up space in your own life, to do the things you’ve always dreamed of.

To live your life with your values front and centre.

You have as much right to your dreams and desires as anyone else, so let yourself have them.

In this very moment, just pause and take a breath, as you say a very loud ‘YES!’ to yourself.

Today’s SHEro Action:

Today’s SHEro action is to say ‘Yes’ to yourself.

What have you been putting off?

What have you been waiting for the right time to do?

Today commit to yourself as you say ‘Yes’ to yourself.

Say ‘Yes’ to more of those things that light you up.

Say ‘Yes’ to more experiences that are aligned with your heart.

Say ‘Yes’ to showing up and trying and trying again.

Say ‘Yes’ to having a go.

Say ‘Yes’ to the unknown

Say ‘Yes’ to you and your adventure through life.

Pause, and take a breath. As you say ‘Yes’.

Today’s Affirmation:

“Yes”

I’ll see you tomorrow for your daily reminder to Re-Enchant Your Life with me, Rebecca-Anuwen,

In the meantime, enjoy saying ‘Yes’ on Your SHEro’s Journey!

We can often put off saying ‘yes’ to what we really want to be doing, by telling ourselves that we don’t have time, don’t have the money, don’t have enough experience, that we’re too old, or that we simply just can’t.

But saying ‘yes’ to ourselves is a practice, it’s like training any muscle in your body, and like training your physical body starting small is the way to go.

If you’d never run around the block, and your first run was an uphill marathon, the chances are you would fail and not complete it, or if you did complete it, you may be in so much pain that you’d never try again.

Most people would know that starting with a smaller run, and then building up to the uphill marathon would more likely bring better results.

It’s the same with saying ‘Yes’ to yourself.

If you start by saying ‘Yes’ to your biggest, wildest dreams and goals, you might find that you can’t sustain it, you may even sabotage yourself, or are quickly influenced by other people’s negative opinions.

But if you start by saying ‘Yes’ to much smaller things in your life, when it comes to saying ‘Yes’ to the bigger things, you’ll be ready to say ‘Yes’ and mean ‘Yes’, and stick by yourself and your ‘Yes’s’.
