Today is the New Moon in Pisces.
The New Moon reminds us of the importance of resting, slowing down, or at least taking a breath. And it’s the perfect time to connect in with your inner wisdom to listen for its guidance.

The moon is currently moving through the sign of Pisces, the final sign of the zodiac. As it moves through Pisces it reminds us that things must come to an end so that new things can emerge.

One of my favourite aspects of the energy of Pisces is that it can help us connect us to our dreams, imagination and inspiration – this is the home of your power and magick, and yet aspects of ourselves that we can be quick to overlook or dismiss.

So, today we use the MMM’s to take a pause and reconnect to you the value of your imagination and dreaming.

1. Magick: Something for you to journal about

What do you need to release to find more peace?

We can often focus on doing more or becoming more efficient so that we can get more done and become more productive.

Even though the science tells us, and our bodies wish we’d remember, that we can actually get more done after resting, and feel so much better about it too.

When we create more space we can reconnect to what’s really important to us.

When we make this space the magick happens.

 

★ Tip: What can you quit this week? What can you consciously decide not to do, so that you create space for yourself to breathe and reconnect to your magick and what’s actually important to you.

2. Mastery: Something for you to think about

“If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.” – ― Henry David Thoreau.”

Making the time to reconnect to your imagination and simply daydream about whatever delicious vision you feel called to dream into, is a wildly powerful thing to do.

Now isn’t a time for working out the ‘how’ you will make your dreams happen or as Thoreau said putting ‘the foundations under them’, that comes with the First Quarter Moon energy next week.

Right now is a time to dream, and with that Piscean energy, let yourself dream as big and deep as your imagination will let you, it will never be ‘lost’ or wasted time.

Notice if any resistance comes up for you as you prioritise daydreaming today. If so, where does that resistance/judgment come from?

Can you give yourself permission to spend 5-minutes daydreaming for no other reason than it’s fun and nourishing for your soul and creative self?

 

★ Tip: You can daydream with your imagination, by creating art, journaling, playing an instrument, moving your body… Dream in anyway that feels good to you!.

3. Momentum: Action for you to take

Connect with your intuition

Take some time to connect with your intuition.

What message does your higher-self have for you?

During this New Moon, focus on asking questions around:

    • How to make a deeper connection to your spiritual self
    • How to connect to your sacred purpose
    • What you need to focus on to recharge your spiritual energy
    • What you need to leg go of
    • What needs healing in your life

To find these answers you could:

    • Journal
    • Use your favourite tool of divination
    • Meditate

    Today is the last quarter moon in Scorpio and tomorrow is Valentine’s day, this brings an interesting combination of:

    • Last quarter moon: Reviewing what’s working for you and what’s not
    • Scorpio: Brings, among other things, the topics of power, pleasure, relationships, and money
    • Valentine’s day: A focus on love; with society telling you what love, or even what relationships, ‘should’ look like for them to be considered happy and successful.

    When you bring these elements together you end up with an energy that could have you questioning your relationships, the power dynamics of those relationships, and what you actually want from them.

    But before you can decide what you want to create with those around you, or call in through a new relationship, it’s essential that you review your own relationship with the most important person in your life… You!

    So, today we use the MMM’s to give yourself a moment to check-in with yourself and explore your relationship with yourself.

    1. Magick: Something for you to journal about

    How did your hardest moments shape you into who you are today?

    Over the next few days, as we celebrate romantic relationships, we tend to focus on the shiny, picture perfect aspects of relationships, and gloss over the parts that we have found challenging.

    We can do the same with ourselves too.

    We want to show up as our shiny selves, but forget the depth of our experiences that have shaped us (which have not all been shiny and picture perfect).

    Take a moment to explore how your hardest times have shaped you.

    I remember my sister once saying to me: ‘Our parents must’ve really hurt you Rebecca, I see you trying to make sure others don’t feel the pain that you did’.

    I’d never thought about it that way, but the core of my work is that I want people to embrace and celebrate who they are, to know that they’re not alone and that they’ve ‘got this’, whatever they decide their ‘this’ is.

    Guess the themes of my ‘hardest’ moments that shaped who I am today!? Yep; Abandonment, rejection and not trusting myself – none of which I feel today (well, rarely), but I certainly know what it’s like to.

    At the time of experiencing this, I wasn’t thinking, this is great, all this will really allow me to cultivate the strength to live life on my own terms and do impactful work that I love in the world… At the time I was hurt, feeling abandoned, rejected and not clear on what to do next.

     

    ★ Tip: Without ‘loving and lighting’ over yourself or thinking ‘everything happens for a reason’, gently explore the key themes that you’ve experienced in your life and see if there is power to be found in there.

    PLEASE NOTE: Don’t do this if you’re in the middle of experiencing the ‘thing’ – it’s never helpful to try and find the meaning whilst you’re ‘in it’. With time comes clarity (and often support and tears) – be gentle with yourself!

    2. Mastery: Something for you to think about

    “Talk to yourself like someone you love.” – Brene Brown

    If you spoke to people in your life the way that you talk to yourself would they love being your friend?

    Hopefully yes!

    But if it was a ‘no’… spend today talking to yourself as if you were your best friend, or a tiny toddler.

    Cheer yourself on and celebrate yourself for all of the the little things you do throughout the day.

    Made a great cup of coffee? High-five yourself.
    Spilt the cup of coffee? Be gentle and reassuring to yourself and you clear it up (remember: pretend you’re speaking to a toddler)

    Got to work on time? ‘Go you!’
    Was late for work? Oh well, you can try again tomorrow.

    It may feel silly to start with, but there may be years (decades) worth of you not being as kind to yourself as you could’ve been, so it will take more than a couple of affirmations to rewire that pattern.

     

    ★ Tip: Listen the latest episode of the A Pinch of Magick podcast, where I walk you through two rituals for being kinder to yourself (with the help of a little extra magick!)

    3. Momentum: Action for you to take

    Write a love letter to yourself

    You may or may not be sending a Valentine’s card tomorrow, either way, make the time to write yourself a love letter.

    Write a letter celebrating who you are and who you’re becoming.

    • Write about all the things you appreciate about who you are, what you’ve achieved and what you’re working towards.
    • Celebrate your achievements AND what it took you to get them.
    • Most of all celebrate all of the things that make you, you – especially the quirky things

     

    ★ Tip: Sleep with your love letter under your pillow for the next 7 days, they you can bury it, so that it grows, or store it somewhere special for as long as you need it.

    We’ve just had the Full Moon in Leo reminding us of the importance, and courage that it takes, to be loyal to yourself. To prioritise and express your own needs, especially when so many other things demand your attention too.

    Putting yourself first can often be seen as selfish, but what if you looked at as filling yourself up, so instead of selfish, it because self-full.

    Imagine how much more you could enjoy, participate, contribute and support your own life, and those around you, if you came from a place of full-ness, rather than depletion.

    Today we use the MMM’s to give yourself a moment to check-in with yourself and explore where you can reprioritise yourself and your needs.

    1. Magick: Something for you to journal about

    What does being loyal to yourself look like in everyday life?

    We often don’t trust people who are disloyal.

    So we try our best to be ‘good’ people and be loyal to the people we care about.

    But at what cost?

    When does loyalty to other people in your life mean you being disloyal to yourself.

    There’s a reason that we must ‘put our own oxygen mask on first’.

    When you can be loyal to yourself and your own needs, you can support, contribute and interact with those around you from a place of fullness and generosity, rather than a place of exhaustion and resentment.

    When you give your time, energy and other resources from a place of fullness and generosity relationships become much more nourishing and fulfilling.

    Would you rather receive help from, or be around, a person that feels nourished and fulfilled or from someone who feels resentful and exhausted?

    ★ Tip: Read about when loyalty holds you back

    2. Mastery: Something for you to think about

    With every act of self-care your authentic self gets stronger, and the critical, fearful mind gets weaker. Every act of self-care is a powerful declaration: I am on my side, I am on my side, each day I am more and more on my own side.” — Susan Weiss Berry

    What does ‘being on your own side’ look like to you?

    What actions do you take that prove to you that you have your own back and are on your own side?

    What’s the smallest act of self-care you can take, that will show yourself that you care about you too?

    ★ Tip: Read (or listen) to this post on magickal self-care

    3. Momentum: Action for you to take

    Add one act of self-care to your diary/planner/calendar.

    What is one act of self-care that you can do this week that will feel nourishing? Adding it to your planner is one way to make sure that it’s less likely to get overlooked…

    Perhaps it’s something you can do in a few moments, perhaps it will take a few hours.

    In my Magickal habits planner: Live Your Magick (coming soon), I split self-care into the following:

    • Physical self-care
    • Emotional self-care
    • Mental self-care
    • Spiritual self-care
    • Social self-care

    Choose one area of your life and do one thing that will nourish that area.

    ★ Tip: take a moment to get quiet and feel into which area of your life needs more nourishment. Listen to the response from your inner wisdom. Getting into the habit of asking, makes it easier to hear the answers.

    This week we see the turn of the wheel with the Northern Hemisphere welcoming the beginning of spring and the Southern Hemisphere beginning to wind down summer.

    These transition times are the perfect opportunity to check in with how you’re feeling, what’s working for you and what you’re feeling called to change.

    Today we use the MMM’s to give yourself a moment to check-in with yourself and receive the wisdom from these seasonal changes.

    1. Magick: Something for you to journal about

    What’s changing in nature around you and how is this affecting you?

    Perhaps, if you’re in the Northern hemisphere, you’re beginning to notice that nature is waking up around you. Here in the UK the snowdrops and daffodils are starting to appear, letting us know that the earth is beginning to wake up from the slumber of winter.

    Maybe you’ve noticed the mornings getting lighter and your commute or school run is now in the daylight?

    As you notice these external changes, become curious about how they might be influencing or reflecting how you feel internally. Perhaps you also notice an awakening of an idea, a stirring of a longing or desire from within?

    As we become more connected and observant about the world around us, we can become more connected to our own inner nature.

     

    ★ Tip: Each day become curious about something new or different that you notice about your surroundings.

    2. Mastery: Something for you to think about

    Every season is one of becoming, but not always one of blooming. Be gracious with your ever-evolving self.” B. Oakman

    We live in a world that often equates success and achievement with production and being busy. Rest can be seen as frivolous, a waste of time, even as selfish.

    And yet rest is as important as doing.

    When we look to the seasons, they remind us of the need for production and growth, but also of the importance of the need to rest.

    In spring the seeds that have been planted begin to grow. In summer they peak with their full and beautiful blooms. In autumn they begin to return to the earth and in winter the earth rests.

    Just as any project you work on, you create from the seeds of your ideas and intentions so that you can then enjoy the rewards of your work. You then benefit from reviewing what worked as you let go of anything didn’t support your idea come to fruition. Finally, after all your efforts, you rest and take time to connect with and dream about your next projects, until it’s time to take action again.

    And yet instead of working with this natural cycle of life, the ebb and flow of your energy, productivity and creativity, we can feel pressured to produce, produce, produce and create, create, create.

    When to do your best work, to feel nourished and fulfilled, it’s essential to honour all stages of the cycle.

     

    ★ Tip: Think of a project that you’re working on or want to work on – what season is it currently in? Is it time to take action, or does it need more time to rest and incubate?

    3. Momentum: Action for you to take

    Give yourself what you need.

    What do you need?

    Such an important question, but so easily overlooked or pushed to the bottom of the to-do list.

    Focus on the needs that you can meet in the short-term.

    You might ‘need’ a holiday, but that might be months away. So, what is it that you need, that a holiday will give you?

    Perhaps it’s some rest. If so, how can you make room and prioritise some rest now, it could be to take a five-minute break from your desk or commit to going to bed early.

    Other needs you might consider:

      • Saying ‘no’ to something so you have more time to do what you actually want to
      • Saying ‘yes’ to something that brings you joy
      • Drinking more water
      • Moving your body
      • Getting some fresh air
      • Reading 5 pages of a book
      • Calling a friend
      • Asking for additional help

    Try and focus on what you can give yourself, rather than what you need others to do.

    However, if what you need is for someone else to change their behaviour, then you can meet that need by having the conversation with them about their behaviour or asserting your boundaries.

     

    ★ Tip: Each day for the next week, get into the habit of asking; ‘What do I need?’ You might not always get the answer, but as you get into the habit of asking this, it creates a deeper relationship with yourself.

    We’ve just had the Aquarius New Moon, a time that reminds you to break free of any limitations that others have placed on you, or that you have placed upon yourself, so that you can celebrate and express everything that makes you, you.

    Today we use the MMM’s to give yourself permission to express more of your own unique magick – making the world a little richer and more interesting because you’re in it.

    1. Magick: Something for you to journal about

    What holds you back from expressing your full self?

    We were born knowing how to get our needs met. If we were hungry or wanted holding, we’d instinctively cry and (hopefully) someone would pick us up and give us what we needed.

    As we grew older, we were taught to supress these same needs and desires. Perhaps parents, caregivers or teachers didn’t have time to listen to you sing and dance, perhaps they didn’t appreciate your artwork or wanted some peace and quiet.

    Very quickly we learnt that when we ‘toned down’ our behaviour and demanded less from those around us, we could be praised for ‘being the good girl’ or being ‘mummy’s little angel’.

    Later in life this led us to start asking, ‘who do I need to be to fit in / be accepted’ by this community of people?’

    And slowly, slowly, drip by drip, by drip, we lost a little more of our connection to our true self. We toned ourselves down and forgot the sheer delight of expressing the fullness of who we have the potential to be.

     

    ★ Tip: Throughout the day, notice when you censor yourself and become curious about why you would do this – is it still a valid reason, or an echo from when you didn’t know there was another option.

    2. Mastery: Something for you to think about

    “To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to change you is the greatest accomplishment.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

    There are so many pressures to follow a certain path in life, behave a certain way, conform to a particular way of being, that it can drown out your own true beliefs and desires.

    Family, culture, society, groups, all having their own set of rules they want you to conform to.

    Sometimes we can internalise these expectations and demands on us so much, that we start to believe they’re actually our own.

    Some of these expectations may actually align with our own values and philosophy of life. And many may not.

    We can try and ignore and override our true desires, but deep down we know. That knowing may start as a small, quiet feeling that something isn’t quite right… but it becomes bigger until it demands your attention, and you have to make changes.

     

    ★ Tip: Cleanse and clear your energy system of other people’s judgements and expectations with the energy alchemy meditations (£17)

    3. Momentum: Action for you to take

    Express Yourself!

    How can you express more of your true self?

    You could:

    • Journal about something that has been on your mind
    • Write a poem (even if you’ve never done this before)
    • Draw or paint for the delight of it – not to ‘produce’ something or even finish something
    • Have the conversation you know you need to have
    • Wear something that represents more of who you are
    • Sign up to that class you’ve been putting off
    • Dance – even if you don’t think you can and even if it’s out of rhythm
    • Do something that makes you feel connected to your own values

     

    ★ Tip: Dance as if no-one’s watching, because they’re probably not! Or they’re not as interested in you as you think they might be…

    Here in the UK, today is often known as ‘Blue Monday’. It gets its name because it was dubbed ‘the most depressing day of the year’; this is a combination of the weather, the bills coming in after the holiday season and low motivation levels – most people have long since given up on their new year resolutions…

    So instead of being ‘blue’, let’s make it a rainbow of colours, or at least a beautiful blue, as we use the MMM’s to remain connected to our magick as we navigate the world when there’s situations we can’t control.

    1. Magick: Something for you to journal about

    What are you appreciating about yourself so far this year?

    Yes you. Of course, you can appreciate other people, situations, and circumstances. But just for this moment… what are you appreciating about you?

    Perhaps it’s something you’ve already done and achieved this year.

    Something you’ve ticked off your to-do list.

    Maybe you’ve taken a stand for yourself, your boundaries or something you believe in.

    Perhaps you’ve consciously not done something.

    Perhaps you’ve rested and taken your time with something.

    Or, perhaps you appreciate something about who you are.

    Your sense of humour.

    Your tenacity.

    Your ability to hold space for yourself or others.

    It’s not about the perceived ‘size’ or ‘greatness’ of what you appreciate. Even appreciating the seemingly smallest of things is deserving of being on your list.

    ★ Tip: Create a special journal and each day, or as often as you remember, add at least five things that you appreciate about yourself. Then whenever you’re feeling less than your best, read through all of the entries in your journal to lift your spirits again.

    2. Mastery: Something for you to think about

    What have you been giving your power and energy too?

    Where do you feel the power draining from you.

    Perhaps it’s with a person, an activity, a pile of letters on the kitchen counter, or an app on your phone that sucks your time.

    Everything that that gets your attention has the ability to drain and deplete your energy. Make sure that the many, many things that get your attention each day, on balance nourish and replenish you.

    3. Momentum: Action for you to take

    Give more of what you want to experience in life.

    I’m sure you don’t want to feel ‘blue’, regardless of the day. So, what would you rather experience instead?

    Do, or give, more of that. Don’t wait for others to give it to you. Start with you and you won’t help but experience more of it!

    If you want to be loved, how can you be more loving in your actions towards yourself and your actions in the world – you can even be more loving to your dishes as you wash them!

    If you want to be recognised for who you are and what you do, how can you recognise others for who they are and what they do?

    If you want to experience more joy in your life, how can you create more joy for yourself and others?

    ★ Tip: You get to choose how you respond to life, it might not always be easy – but you don’t have to do it alone. Choose responses that are going to support you and not disempower you
